Scaling Decentralized Renewable Energy – Energy Access Investment Forum (EAIF)

Green People’s Energy for Africa (GBE) will be participating in two sessions at the Energy Access Investment Forum (EAIF), organized by the Alliance for Rural Electrification (ARE). The event will take place from March 21 – 23 at the Radisson Blue Hotel, Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire.

EAIF is the top annual business and finance event for the decentralized renewable energy (DRE) sector, enabling and fostering business and investor partnerships for renewable electrification energy access, economic growth, decarbonization and mitigating climate change. EAIF is co-organized by the African Development Bank Group and Sustainable Energy Fund for Africa (SEFA), and supported by GET.invest and Prospect. Bärbel Höhn, Special Representative for Energy in Africa from the Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and ambassador for Green People’s Energy, will participate in the high-level panel.

GBE is a key strategy partner of EAIF, and is looking to promote decentralized renewable energy. The first session organized by GBE is titled “Bringing productive use of energy to scale, technologies, approaches & lessons learnt”, on Wednesday 22, 11 AM – 12:15 PM GMT. It will include discussions on Results-based Financing as well as panels discussions with representatives form the Beninese Agency for Rural Electrification and Energy Management (ABERME), the PayGo company BAOBAB+, and the Senegalese NGO ENDA Energie. The panel will discuss the economic viability of promoting different productive uses of energy appliances, as well as successful approaches to doing so.

The plenary session, co-organized by GBE, is titled “Innovative end-user financing to scale up decentralized renewable energy investments” and will take place on Wednesday 22nd, 2 PM – 3:15 PM GMT. The panel will discuss different financing schemes to scale up decentralized renewable energy for local entrepreneurs. Featured panelists include representatives from CIDR Pamiga Greeno, CARE and Triple Jump BV.
