Bringing partners together
To reduce energy poverty in rural regions of Africa and support development of decentralized renewable energy systems, the BMZ initiative “Green People’s Energy for Africa” helps bring together actors in Africa and Europe in partnerships between people, businesses, organisation and even municipalities.
The initiative has provided funding to projects that exchange knowledge, information and experience between partner institutions. This can include advisory services or building longer term cooperation processes. Measures have also included exchanges of expertise as part of twin municipality activities.
The range of partnerships has shown both diverse and creative approaches. They all share in common that are committed to strengthening productive use of energy, energy supply for social institutions, and promotion of framework conditions for sustainable investments.
