Green People’s Energy working with Odyssey tech on results-based financing in Côte d’Ivoire

Odyssey tech platform for managing renewable energy projects announces new partnership with the Green People’s Energy (GBE) initiative in Côte d’Ivoire, implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH. Based on Odyssey’s digital technologies for distributed energy financing, GBE can now manage its data-driven and streamlined results-based funding schemes more effectively.

Using a results-based approach, GBE helps distribute financing for solar-based equipment for productive use, for example solar pumps. While results-based financing (RBF) is effective for ensuring solar power entry into rural markets and for productive use, the approach places high demands on management. To support administration of financial disbursements to companies and organisations eligible for grants and financing, GBE in Côte d’Ivoire sought out Odyssey as a suitable tech partner after seeing proof of concept with GBE in Benin.

Odyssey and GBE are now working together to digitize every step of the RBF process. This means employing and deploying advanced data management tools for tracking, processing and analyzing all aspects of the programme. Selected companies will be able to submit claims for financial disbursement on the platform. Throughout the process, the Odyssey platform will collect all important data for improved management, monitoring and visualization of progress.
